Introduction of the Metro
Gran Metro 1924
On December 31, 1924 the Gran Metro, the first underground railway, was introduced. In about 8 minutes and 30 seconds the metro would run about 3 kilometers from the Lesseps to Plaza de Cataluna. It was planned that overtime this railway would be extended to include other underground lines. [1]

Metro Transversal 1926
On June 10, 1926 the second underground railway, Metro Transversal, was opened in Barcelona by a company called Ferrocarril Metropolita de Barcelona. The Metro Transversal connected Plaza de Cataluna to Montjuic, and was the proposed form of transportation for the International Exposition that would be coming up in 1929. Barcelona seemed to be on its way in its development of transportation services by additionally establishing the Traffic Department of Barcelona in 1931 and only to be halted once again by the overtaking of Francois regime. [1]
On June 10, 1926 the second underground railway, Metro Transversal, was opened in Barcelona by a company called Ferrocarril Metropolita de Barcelona. The Metro Transversal connected Plaza de Cataluna to Montjuic, and was the proposed form of transportation for the International Exposition that would be coming up in 1929. Barcelona seemed to be on its way in its development of transportation services by additionally establishing the Traffic Department of Barcelona in 1931 and only to be halted once again by the overtaking of Francois regime.
